Best Family Friendly Hike
Peyto Lake

Located along the Icefields Parkway, the Payto Lake trail offers magnificent views of the glacier fed lake surrounded by mountain views and rich forests. Due to the mineral content of the glacier, Peyto Lake is a bright turquoise and considered one of the most beautiful views in the Banff National Park. You can park at the Bow Summit and follow the short paved pathway to the viewpoint balcony. Be warned, during the summer seasons, this area can become crowded with tourists.
Beginner's Favourite Hike
Tunnel Mountain

- Difficulty: Easy
The popular short trail to the top of Tunnel Mountain provides views of Banff, Bow Valley, Vermillion Lakes and Rundle Mountain. The trail is easily accessed by several areas, signage is provided or you may go to the visitor centre for more information. The Tunnel Mountain trail is the perfect hike of all ages and fitness levels.
Most For Your Effort Hike
Sulphur Mountain

- Time: 1.5 – 3 hours
- Difficulty: Moderate
Available year round, Sulphur Mountain is the best hike for your efforts. If there are members in your party that are not up for a hike, they can access the top of the mountain with a fun gondola ride. Waiting at the top is unbelievable views, a restaurant & gift shop.
You can access the Sulphur Mountain trail via the Banff Upper Hot Spring parking lot. The trail has a steady incline and provides the occasional view of Rundle Mountain and the town of Banff. Following 4.5km hike, walk the next 1km over a boardwalk towards Sanson's Peak. Enjoy the panoramic view of the Banff's beautiful mountain landscape.
